Biggest downsides of living in Statesville?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Average temperature is around 57--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a smaller city city with about 29,161 people. With a population of 29,161, Statesville is a smaller city. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Does this match your experience? The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The dating scene scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
