How are the schools in Staunton?

I'm single, late 50s, and With a population of 25,765, Staunton is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -Staunton sits at 204.6 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $993 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The community vibe is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Denver about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
