Best neighborhoods in Sterling Heights for families?

We have two kids (5 and 11) and are looking for a family-friendly neighborhood in Sterling Heights. Budget is around $1267/month for rent. We prioritize good schools and safety. Any recommendations?

Also, are there good parks and activities for kids in the area?

Been here 20 years. The city has changed a lot but overall for the better.

I've lived in Oakwood for 8 years and it's decent, has its pros and cons.

Check out the Westside area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is drive around neighborhoods at different times before committing. Makes a big difference.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Old Town. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

As someone who moved here from Seattle, I can confirm most of this. The cost of living surprised me the most.

Rent tip: look for places in October-November. Prices drop and there's more availability.

The job market has been improving lately. Several logistics companies moved in recently.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 3 years and my experience is very similar.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

If you can afford it, Downtown is the best place to live. Period.

Moved here last year. No regrets. So many outdoor activities.
