Hello, I'm a teacher here and It's a a small town city with about 18,144 people. You can expect to pay around $773 for rent here. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Should I be concerned?

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great farm-to-table places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Atlanta about 9 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Hope this helps!.
