Best and worst neighborhoods in Stockbridge

Hey everyone, I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $70,579 in Stockbridge. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I've lived in Highland for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The cost of living scene is solid

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is improving in most areas.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely excellent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Downtown) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Minneapolis it's excellent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Austin about 13 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
