OK so Poverty rate is 8.4%, which is pretty low. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Does this match your experience? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 14 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is improving.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Happy to answer more specific questions..
