Why I chose Stockbridge over bigger cities

Military spouse here. You can expect to pay around $1,437 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 4.7%, which is about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Stockbridge sits at 400.3 per 100K. The median home value here is around $248,000, which is actually reasonable. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've lived in South for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The housing market scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.
