Housing market in Stockton — is it worth buying?

Median home value here is around $412,900. Prices are steep but there are pockets of affordability. For those renting, typical rent is $1495.

Is now a good time to buy in Stockton? Or better to keep renting?

Looking for opinions from both homeowners and renters.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Downtown and Eastside are perfectly safe.

Rent tip: look for places in January-February. Prices drop and there's more availability.
