Stockton is underrated, change my mind
Hey folks, Just moved here 1 months ago and With a population of 320K, Stockton is a mid-size city. It's a a mid-size city city with about 320K people. You can expect to pay around $1,495 for rent here. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good.
Pros:
- Friendly people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- Plenty of shopping options
- Active local events
Cons:
- Hot summers
- Cold winters
- High property taxes
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Homelessness issues downtown
Would love some local perspective. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.
