The good and bad of living in Stockton

Anyone else feel this way? Rent is about $1,495/month for a decent place. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The housing market scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Sunset area are tough. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- The traffic scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..
