Anyone else feel this way? I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Homes are going for about $368,600 on average. Household incomes average around $135,389 in Stokesdale. With a population of 5,943, Stokesdale is a small town. Poverty rate is 5.1%, which is pretty low. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation? Any help is appreciated. The weather takes some getting used to. My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 2 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
