Biggest downsides of living in Stokesdale?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Homes are going for about $368,600 on average. Household incomes average around $135,389 in Stokesdale. With a population of 5,943, Stokesdale is a small town. Poverty rate is 5.1%, which is pretty low. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation? Any help is appreciated. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 2 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I work in marketing here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is decent. Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor recreation is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is decent in most areas.
