Pros and cons of Stone Ridge after 13 years

You can expect to pay around $2,761 for rent here. Median household income is $183,211, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 1.3%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $666,300, which is pretty steep. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Pros:
- Close to nature
- Good healthcare facilities
- Walkable downtown
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited dining options
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
What do you all think? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 1 years. Moved from Minneapolis for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is average - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Homeless population growing downtown. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 9/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 7 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
