Should I move to Stonecrest or stay in San Francisco?
Hi all, I'm single, late 40s, and The unemployment rate is 5.3%, which is about average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Anyone in a similar situation? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is improving.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The public transit is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Eastside for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The food scene scene is decent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- The dating scene scene is improving
The downsides:

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely underrated and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Springfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in tech. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Feel free to reach out with questions..
