First post here. Just moved here 8 months ago and Poverty rate is 11.1%, which is around average. With a population of 59,917, Stonecrest is a smaller city. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Is this normal for Stonecrest?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Atlanta about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
