Random thought, Rent is about $1,696/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $472,600 on average. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (West) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.
