Things that make Stoughton unique

Hey, I've been here for 6 years and It's a a small town city with about 13,063 people. The median home value here is around $283,900, which seems about average. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. Poverty rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Worth the trade-offs? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 12 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is average.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Midtown area are average. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a social worker and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.
