What I wish I knew before living in Stoughton
Hey folks, I'm a teacher here and It's a a small town city with about 13,063 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Stoughton sits at 228.8 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 1.1%, which is pretty low. With a population of 13,063, Stoughton is a small town. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development.
Pros:
- Great weather
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Good schools
Cons:
- High property taxes
- Lack of diversity
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Homelessness issues downtown
Thoughts? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.
