So, My family moved here when I was a kid. Crime rate is something to consider -Struthers sits at 177.4 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 9,995 people. Household incomes average around $51,894 in Struthers. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Thoughts? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely pretty good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Downtown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much reasonable but now it's hit or miss.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 12 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
