What surprised you most about Stuart?

Curious what people think. I'm single, late 30s, and The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Stuart sits at 322.7 per 100K. With a population of 18,058, Stuart is a small town. Homes are going for about $291,300 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Growing food scene
- Low taxes
- Easy commute
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Limited dining options
- Poor road conditions
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
Appreciate any input. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 1 years. Moved from New York for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Bugs and humidity in summer. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 5/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Seattle it's challenging.
