Affordable areas near Stuarts Draft?

First post here. I'm a 41-year-old social worker and The median home value here is around $260,700, which seems about average. Median household income is $77,585, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Would love some local perspective. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in engineering. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
