Is Stuttgart still affordable?

Anyone else feel this way? Just moved here 12 months ago and With a population of 8,060, Stuttgart is a small town. You can expect to pay around $828 for rent here. Rent is about $828/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Close to nature
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Homelessness issues downtown
Would love some local perspective. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 9 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Bought a house here in 2018 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is weather. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (The Heights) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
