Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a teacher here and Homes are going for about $462,800 on average. It's a a small town city with about 2,951 people. Poverty rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Thanks in advance! There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is solid in most areas.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much manageable but now it's underrated.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
No regrets on my end..

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Miami about 10 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is average.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (East) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a marketing manager and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.
