Should I move to Suffern or stay in Salt Lake City?
Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Household incomes average around $100,737 in Suffern. With a population of 11,395, Suffern is a small town. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance! It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I've lived in Old Town for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong sense of community
- The job market scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely solid and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Downtown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
