Hi all, Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 7.7%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,484 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Does this match your experience? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Minneapolis it's decent.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Italian.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..
