Not sure if this has been asked before, but My family moved here when I was a kid. You can expect to pay around $1,738 for rent here. Median household income is $99,479, which feels pretty solid for the area. Poverty rate is 8.1%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 60--F, so the weather is moderate. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cheers. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Chicago it's improving.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much stable but now it's solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Downtown. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 55, moved here 1 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Lakewood and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Can feel isolated
3. The traffic situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for singles. average vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Minneapolis it's surprisingly good.
