Hi all, Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What would you do? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 12 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely tough and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (North) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Moved here from Nashville about 1 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to safety but Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- The public transit scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for school and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The pet-friendliness is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..
