Random thought, I grew up here but left for a while. Homes are going for about $185,600 on average. Household incomes average around $67,870 in Summerside. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts?

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in marketing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
