Cheapest neighborhoods in Summerville?

Hey folks, Crime rate is something to consider -Summerville sits at 351.7 per 100K. The median home value here is around $295,700, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,414 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Thanks in advance! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much established but now it's better than expected.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely tough and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 13 years. Moved from Phoenix for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Homeless population growing downtown. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
