Things that make Summerville unique

Hey, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Poverty rate is 7.3%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $78,621 in Summerville. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $78,621, which feels about average for the area. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 3 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much established but now it's surprisingly good.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is improving.

I've lived in Westside for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The healthcare scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
