Housing market in Sumter right now

Alright, I'm a remote worker and Rent is about $1,055/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $188,400, which is actually reasonable. Median household income is $53,071, which feels on the lower side for the area. Poverty rate is 12.1%, which is around average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Am I overthinking this? Appreciate any input. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Westside for 6 years. Moved from Houston for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Chain restaurants dominate. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 6/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is decent in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from New York about 8 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Sunset for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
- The dating scene scene is solid

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much stable but now it's better than expected.

Used to live on the North side, now on the South side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- The outdoor recreation scene is solid

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
