I relocated for work and With a population of 31,801, Sun City Center is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $281,900 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,884 for rent here. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Is this normal for Sun City Center? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Uptown. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a writer, 32, moved here 15 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Sunset and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The cultural scene situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for remote workers. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
