Best and worst neighborhoods in Sun City West

Hello, My family moved here when I was a kid. Rent is about $1,658/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $350,500 on average. Average temperature is around 72--F, so it's warm year-round. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely decent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Springfield) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much pricey but now it's excellent.
