Best neighborhoods to rent in Sun Lakes?

Hey, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Homes are going for about $425,500 on average. With a population of 14,079, Sun Lakes is a small town. Median household income is $63,545, which feels about average for the area. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Thoughts? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 44, moved here 2 years ago from New York. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The nightlife situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for young professionals. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Asian places. I have mixed feelings honestly.
