OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 27, moved here 5 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Old Town and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The weather situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for singles. average vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $90K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The outdoor recreation situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

- Meadowbrook: Great for young professionals. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much stable but now it's excellent.
