Alright, Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Worth the trade-offs? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a data analyst, 55, moved here 5 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in North and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Nice parks and green spaces
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Bugs and humidity in summer
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The walkability situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for young professionals. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $90K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Phoenix about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is average.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Used to live on the West side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

I'm a data analyst and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Midtown area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The food scene is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
