Hey folks, My family moved here when I was a kid. Rent is about $2,002/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Sunny Isles Beach sits at 146.8 per 100K. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I overthinking this? Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I've lived in East for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The healthcare scene is tough
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for family and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The community vibe is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
