Random thought, Average temperature is around 76--F, so it's warm year-round. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Let me know your thoughts. TIA! It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. it exceeded my expectations.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Tampa about 14 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is improving.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..
