Is Sunnyside worth it salary-wise?

First post here. Military spouse here. Rent is about $1,530/month for a decent place. With a population of 5,003, Sunnyside is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Sunnyside sits at 214.5 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 6 years. Moved from Atlanta for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Road conditions need improvement. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 5/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The healthcare is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Midtown for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- The safety scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Cedar Grove. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Moved here from San Diego about 10 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to nightlife but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
