Moving to Sunnyvale with kids — good idea?

Hey folks, I'm a college student here and The median home value here is around $1,816,600, which is pretty steep. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Miami about 10 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Tampa it's tough.
