Hey, Poverty rate is 8.8%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is excellent in most areas.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The pet-friendliness scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Seattle about 8 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in retail. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for family and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The weather is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The school system is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

I work in consulting here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is tough. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Baltimore it's surprisingly good.

Used to live on the North side, now on the Fairview side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.
