Sunrise is underrated, change my mind

Not sure if this has been asked before, but We have two kids and Household incomes average around $72,107 in Sunrise. Rent is about $1,999/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $72,107, which feels about average for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Let me know your thoughts. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Used to live on the The Heights side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 4 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 53, moved here 14 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Sunset and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The school system situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for families. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.
