Thinking about relocating to Sunrise from Dallas

Average temperature is around 75--F, so it's warm year-round. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor recreation is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Austin it's decent.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 8 years. Moved from Denver for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is tough - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited entertainment options. Bugs and humidity in summer. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely better than expected and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Came here for weather and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The safety is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
