Poverty rate is 17.6%, which is higher than I expected. Average temperature is around 69°F, so the weather is moderate. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Denver about 2 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is underrated.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much growing but now it's surprisingly good.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great craft beer places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I've lived in South for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The walkability scene is tough
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Midtown area are decent. Kids love it here.
