Random thought, I'm originally from Los Angeles and Crime rate is something to consider — Sunrise Manor sits at 776.7 per 100K. Rent is about $1,284/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $290,900, which seems about average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Cheers. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in North area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The pet-friendliness is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a contractor, 52, moved here 7 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Springfield and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Low crime in most neighborhoods
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The dating scene situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for families. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from LA about 10 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Fairview for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- The weather scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.
