Random thought, We have two kids and Household incomes average around $53,663 in Sunset Lake. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Any advice would be great. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. it exceeded my expectations.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Came here for weather and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The pet-friendliness is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a chef, 28, moved here 2 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Downtown and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The community vibe situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for families. tough vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Houston about 10 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The walkability is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is excellent in most areas.
