Longtime lurker here, I'm retired and Poverty rate is 5.3%, which is pretty low. With a population of 150K, Surprise is a mid-size city. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.
