Cost of living reality check -Susanville

Hey everyone, I've been here for 17 years and Homes are going for about $234,000 on average. The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $57,607 in Susanville. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Low crime in most areas
- Close to nature
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Hot summers
- Limited dining options
- Far from major airports
- Limited cultural events
Looking forward to hearing from you all. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services.
