Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 12 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Moved here from San Diego about 8 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to community vibe but No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Denver about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is decent.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
