Pros and cons of Swampscott after 8 years

Hello, I'm a remote worker and The median home value here is around $690,800, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Swampscott sits at 52.3 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. Thoughts? The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in finance. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..
