Hey everyone, I relocated for work and Poverty rate is 5.9%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $137,000, which is actually reasonable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What are your go-to spots? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'm a lawyer and I've found I love the pace of life here. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Springfield) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
